Last week representatives of the Iranian-American communities rallied outside The White House to demand that the United States uphold its commitments to the safety and security of the of Iranian dissidents residing in Camp Liberty, Iraq. The rally took place as the Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, was in Washington D.C. to meet with President Obama.
The United Nations Refugee Agency have declared Camp Liberty residents as persons of concern and protected persons under the Fourth Geneva Convention. Speakers at the rally highlighted the 116 innocent refugees who have been killed in violent attacks on the camp at the commanded of the Iranian regime. Twenty-two Camp Liberty residents have also died because of the lack of access to proper medical treatment.
